Tessa Kirera (Ite Ʇ≡ᛇᛇɅ ꞰIᛚ≡ᛚɅ) is one of the divers in Voidound. She is a Blue-ranked diver and usually acts as a group leader.
Appearance
Tessa is a surfaceborn hikuite of short stature and lean, muscular build. Being a hikuite, she has a rather well-developed, reptile-like tail that is often used as an additional hand. Because of this use, a large portion of her tail is bandaged to reduce the damage from friction. Her skin color is almost pitch-black with occasional scars. Her hair is primarily white with occasional dyed strands in magenta, yellow and blue colors. The bangs cover the majority of her face, including the eyes, and she also possesses two long, distinct hair strands at the top of the head, resembling antennae. She has triangular, "butterfly" shaped eyes with small pupils and dark irises.
Tessa's primary diving outfit consists of a light gray tank top and a short, dark gray vest with a tall gray-colored collar and a horizontal band of the same color at the bottom of the vest. She wears large, dark gray cargo pants with a gray-colored, V-shaped middle piece and sewn-on patches of various shades of gray. She also wears black, laced-up boots, with yellow lace on the right and magenta lace on the left, as well as a pair of oversized, light-gray gloves with darker finger tips and horizontal stripes on top. Her rank band is tied on the belt at the right hip.
Biography
Backstory
Tessa was born and raised in a regular family, and after becoming old enough to participate, she enrolled into a standard diving academy. She passed the course rather easily, but was a known troublemaker and often ended up getting herself and others in all sorts of situations.
Personality
Tessa's personality can be described as energetic, thrill-seeking and highly confident. She's very adventurous, fearless and competitive, wanting to dive in all sorts of trouble head-first without planning ahead and figure out the solution from there. Although often acting as the lead of the group, she doesn't always wait for others to keep up, expecting them to follow whenever she gives the permission to do so. Tessa also has quite a liking to socializing, but usually doesn't form close bonds with anyone, not finding those who can keep up with her, or simply lacking interest in other ite to consider anything deeper. She doesn't like dwelling on or being surrounded by negative feelings, often trying to lift up the spirits by acts, words, jokes, affectionate teasing, or changing the topic to something easier.
While undoubtedly capable and charismatic, Tessa can easily come off as too intense or difficult for many individuals. Tessa experiences quite some trouble with staying still, both mentally and physically. Because of this impatience, she's prone to making impulsive decisions and dismissing hesitation, caution or weakness from other ite. If confronted, Tessa can come off as highly stubborn and equally confrontational, if not outright aggressive at times. This trait is especially noticeable when Tessa is drunk, as she gets very little self-control and is willing to pick fights with anyone.
Despite her flaws, Tessa isn't acting out of a malicious intent. Her actions are lead by her high confidence and the belief that having courage and a decisive approach is the best option. However, this makes her behavior border on over-confidence, leading to overestimation of herself, other divers, or underestimation of the dangers she's facing.
When met with situations beyond her control, especially those where no physical abilities and pushing forward will suffice, Tessa's confidence can crack. She has a hard time and is uncomfortable with admitting own mistakes or asking for outside help.
Despite many ite finding Tessa to be difficult, on some occasions there are individuals that can get along with her one way or another. As shown with Dakuta, Tessa is actually capable of listening to others and following instructions, although not without arguing or protesting first. This mostly comes down to the fact that Dakuta is equally (if not more) stubborn, and is mostly annoyed and concerned with Tessa's behavior, rather than feeling any intimidation due to her intensity.
Relationships
Dakuta Bida: The two have a somewhat tense relationship. Tessa doesn't like obeying Dakuta's authority, but Dakuta is one of the few divers that can get a grip on Tessa's difficult personality and make her listen. Despite the constant friction due to different approaches to diving, as well as both being incredibly stubborn in their views, the two have a slight father-daughter relationship (neither are actually related to each other).
Kyzmet Ventura: The two are familiar with each other, and Kyzmet seems to be one of the people that can keep up with Tessa's intensity, or sometimes make her pause even for a little before she makes reckless decisions.
